Bevel gear box

Our range of bevel gear boxes comprises three gear unit types. The smallest gearboxes have an edge length of approx. 40mm and are therefore suitable for applications where installation space is limited. The R series bevel gearboxes, which are also available in stainless (R5) steel or with a hollow shaft (RH), offer a high degree of flexibility in implementing your application. In addition, you will find our BG spiral bevel gearboxes as absolute power packs.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bevel Gears

Torque is a measure of the rotational force that a gearbox can transmit and is crucial in determining whether a gearbox is suitable for a specific application. A higher torque rating means the gearbox can handle heavier loads or provide greater control over movement. The gear ratio describes the relationship between the rotational speed of the input shaft and the output shaft. It determines how much the gearbox increases or decreases the input speed, directly affecting the speed and torque of the driven load. Selecting the right gearbox depends on the required speed and force needed for a particular application.

Straight-cut gears have parallel teeth and offer a simple design, making them well-suited for applications with low speeds and high loads. However, they tend to produce more noise and vibration at higher speeds.

Helical gears have teeth that are angled relative to the gear axis, ensuring smoother and quieter power transmission. They are preferred for medium to high-speed applications, as their design reduces noise and enhances efficiency.

Spiral gears, a specialized form of helical gearing with curved teeth, provide the smoothest operation and highest transmission efficiency. They are ideal for applications requiring high rotational speeds, minimal noise, and maximum torque transfer.

The material of a gearbox plays a crucial role in its performance, efficiency, and durability. Steel gears provide high strength and long-lasting durability, making them ideal for heavy-duty applications, though their weight can be a disadvantage in certain scenarios. Aluminum gears are lighter and offer excellent heat dissipation, but they have a lower load capacity compared to steel. Plastic gears are the lightest and resistant to corrosion, but they are only suitable for low-load applications due to their limited strength. The choice of material depends on the specific application requirements, including the operating environment, load capacity, and expected lifespan of the gearbox.
