FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions about Technische Antriebselemente
What do we offer?

General Questions about Products & Solutions

What product categories do linear systems, drive technology and accessories cover?
We supply linear actuators, linear guides (individually and as complete systems), screw jack gearboxes, intelligent electric motors, worm and bevel gearboxes, a large selection of servo and magnetic couplings as well as some specialty couplings, overrunning clutches, universal joints and shaft couplings, gear technology, machine feet and other machine components.
For which mechanical and plant engineering applications are our components specifically suited?
Positioning, lifting, adjusting and indexing in assembly, packaging, intralogistics, special-purpose machinery, test rigs and automation.
How do you select the correct size based on load, stroke, speed and duty cycle?
In consultation with our suppliers, we take into account safety factors, service life and thermal limits and recommend the appropriate series.
What is the difference between standard solutions, configurations and custom special solutions?
Standard components are immediately selectable and generally also deliverable. Configurations combine modular parts, especially for linear systems, motors, gearboxes and screw jack elements. Special solutions include customer-specific adaptations such as special bores and gear profiles, including drawings and samples.
Are our components compatible with IEC motor flanges (B5/B14) and common servo motors?
Yes, as a rule our components are compatible with IEC B5/B14 and common servo flange patterns. Adapter plates and shaft variants are possible.
What materials, surfaces and protection classes (e.g. IP, ATEX) do we offer?
Depending on the component, we offer aluminum, steel, stainless steel or (special) plastics. These can be anodized, galvanized or painted. Protection classes up to IP ratings are possible depending on the series; ATEX variants are also available upon request.
How do backlash, stiffness and accuracy affect the performance of your application?
Low backlash and high stiffness reduce positioning errors, improve dynamics and repeatability. The optimal combination depends on load cases and drive control.
Are CAD models and data sheets (formats: STEP, DXF, PDF) available for all products?
For the core range, we provide STEP and PDF files. Additional formats are available on request.
What is the typical service life and what does it depend on?
Service life depends primarily on the component in question and is fundamentally influenced by the load spectrum, lubrication, environment and installation conditions. We provide maintenance recommendations on request.
Where do the products come from: in-house manufacturing, "Made in Germany" or an international partner network?
Technische Antriebselemente works with a European and Asian partner network and carries out selected machining in-house. Origin information is provided on a product-by-product basis.
How do you order?

Questions about Quotation & Ordering Process

How do you request a quote and what information do we need (load case, quantity, deadline, drawing)?
Use our contact form or alternatively send a request to sales@tea-hamburg.de. Send us your technical requirements, optionally with a drawing or sketch. If you have a specific product in mind, please also let us know whether we may suggest alternative products. We will then check the design and feasibility and prepare a quotation.
What delivery times apply to stock items, configured systems and custom special solutions?
Stock items are available at short notice, configured systems within defined project lead times. Custom special solutions are scheduled according to design and material availability. In the event of supply shortages for individual products, we can generally assist with alternative solutions.
Are volume discounts, minimum order quantities or blanket orders with call-offs available?
Volume discounts and MOQs are available by individual agreement, as are blanket orders with call-offs.
What shipping options, Incoterms and carriers are available, including express?
We offer parcel, freight and express delivery by arrangement; tracking is available on request.
What payment methods and payment terms do we offer?
We offer standard payment methods (invoice, PayPal, etc.) and payment terms subject to credit assessment and agreement.
How do you track order status, partial deliveries and estimated arrival times?
You will receive an order confirmation and, if required, tracking links. Partial deliveries and ETAs are communicated transparently.
How are returns, complaints and RMA handled, and what deadlines apply?
Complaints are processed via an RMA number with a fault description and photos. Deadlines and procedures are governed by our terms and conditions and the product type.
Do we support e-procurement/ERP integration (EDI, OCI/Punchout, electronic catalogues)?
We do not currently support EDI, OCI/Punchout or electronic catalogues. ERP integrations are implemented on a project-by-project basis.
How does our supplier consolidation service work in practice (onboarding, reporting, KPIs, savings potential)?
We start with a supplier comparison, followed by an item-by-item analysis. You then receive a consolidation proposal from us and are comprehensively supported throughout the implementation. Further information is available on our supplier consolidation page.
Which certificates and documents can we supply on request (CoC, material certificates, origin, RoHS/REACH)?
On request we supply Certificates of Conformity, material certificates, certificates of origin as well as RoHS/REACH compliance declarations. Further documents are available upon request.
How do we support you?

Technical Questions & Support

How do you correctly install and align linear units or screw jacks?
The basis is always a flat mounting surface, correct angular alignment and coaxial coupling. Torques, preload and end stops are set in accordance with the installation instructions.
Which lubricants and maintenance intervals do we recommend for which operating conditions?
Greases or oils approved by us (product-dependent) should be used according to temperature and load range. Intervals depend on operating hours and environment. Many of our products are also low-maintenance or maintenance-free.
How do you calculate load ratings, moments, lateral forces and critical speeds for your design?
We calculate load ratings, moments, lateral forces and critical speeds and validate the safety margin. The data basis is your load profiles.
Do you provide declarations of conformity (e.g. CE) for your products?
For individual components such as screw jacks, linear units or couplings, a separate CE declaration of conformity is generally not issued, as they only form a complete machine in combination with other parts. Technische Antriebselemente does, however, supply all necessary manufacturer information, material and safety data for integration into your overall declaration in accordance with the Machinery Directive / Machinery Regulation. On request, we also provide RoHS, REACH and, where applicable, UKCA documentation.
What tolerances, preloads and accuracy classes are available?
Available classes define play, straightness and repeatability. We select the appropriate class to match your positioning requirements and control strategy.
In which temperature, dust, humidity, cleanroom or food-grade environments can the products be used?
Depending on the series, use in different temperature ranges as well as in dust, humidity or splash-water environments is possible. Cleanroom and food-grade options are available on request for many product series.
What measures help against vibrations, noise or premature wear?
A root-cause analysis should always be carried out first. As a general rule, correct preload, damping elements, alignment and a properly executed lubrication schedule can reduce the loads.
Can assemblies be retrofitted, converted or made upgrade-ready at a later stage?
This is possible in many cases via adapters or replacement components. We work with you to check fit, interfaces and approvals.
What conformities and markings do we support (e.g. CE relevance of components, RoHS, REACH, UKCA)?
Our components support RoHS and REACH. CE relates to complete machines; we supply the necessary information for your risk assessment. UKCA is handled individually after review.
Where do you get quick help in the event of a fault: hotline, email, SLA, remote support, on-site service?
General support is provided by phone and email. Remote diagnostics and on-site service can be arranged individually. Our office hours are Monday to Thursday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Do we offer training, commissioning support or test protocols?
We offer training, commissioning support and test protocols on a project-by-project basis. We also support the parameterisation of our motors.
