Linear Guide Sizing

Calculate the static safety factor, permissible load, or required load capacity for profiled rail guides — select the desired quantity and enter the known values.

Calculate

What do you want to determine?

kN
kN
-

1.0–1.5 normal cases | 1.5–2.5 shock | 2.5–3.0 heavy vibration

Formulas

S₀ = C₀ / (F × fs)
F = C₀ / (S₀ × fs)
C₀ = S₀ × F × fs
C₀ = Static load capacity [kN]
F = Applied load [kN]
fs = Load factor [-] (shock, vibration)
S₀ = Static safety factor [-]

Example Calculation

Guide carriage with C₀ = 28.6 kN, load F = 8 kN, load factor fs = 1.5:
S₀ = 28.6 / (8 × 1.5) ≈ 2.38

Note: Guideline values for the safety factor: S₀ ≥ 1 for normal applications, S₀ ≥ 2 for shock loading, S₀ ≥ 3–5 for heavy vibration. C₀ values can be found in the catalog of the respective guide manufacturer.
