Manufacturer in the TEA range
Huco
Huco has been manufacturing precision couplings in Hertford, England, since 1965 — for drives where the point is not high torque but zero backlash, low inertia and small envelopes: stepper and servo axes, encoders, actuators, dosing and measuring equipment. We supply the coupling range in its full breadth and select the design together with you, because at these sizes that selection is where the real work lies.

Why the design decides the outcome here
Small couplings are unforgiving. An Oldham coupling absorbs large parallel offset but wears at the centre disc. A bellows coupling is torsionally stiff and therefore the first choice wherever positioning errors show up directly — but it reacts sensitively to excessive misalignment. UNI-LAT® combines the universal joint and Oldham principles and is electrically isolating. Which of these properties matters in your axis is something we clarify before the selection, not after.
Modified versions instead of a compromise
Bore, hub length, material and clamping can be adapted within the Huco series. That is the usual route when a catalogue coupling does not fit in one respect — it is normally faster and cheaper than moving up to a larger series. Tell us where it does not fit; we will find out what is feasible before you redesign.
What we add to it
We select the coupling from the torque, speed, misalignment and inertia ratio of your axis, name the series and bore combination and supply data sheets and dimensional drawings. If a standard coupling does not fit, we clarify the modified version. Quotation and delivery run through us.

Special Couplings In addition to classic servo couplings, we also offer special solutions for demanding applications. Oldham, UNI-LAT®, and double-loop couplings compensate for misalignment or shaft displacement during the coupling of two shafts while reliably transmitting torque. For hermetically sealed, contactless torque transmission, our permanent magnet couplings (PMKC) have their own dedicated product page with series, technical data, and sizing guidance.
- Bellows couplings Torsionally stiff and free from backlash — the first choice wherever a positioning error shows up directly at the workpiece. You will find the series on our servo couplings page, together with the other designs.
Frequently asked questions
The coupling range in its full breadth — Oldham, UNI-LAT®, bellows, beam, double loop, flex membrane, jaw and rigid couplings as well as universal joints. For the designs most frequently requested from us you will find details on our product pages for special couplings and servo couplings.
As a rough guide: bellows where torsional stiffness and positioning accuracy come first; Oldham where a larger parallel offset has to be absorbed; UNI-LAT® where angular and radial misalignment occur together or electrical isolation is needed. This only becomes binding with your figures for torque, speed and misalignment — send them to us and we will work it through.
Yes. Within the respective series, bore, hub length, clamping and in some cases the material can be adapted. Tell us your shaft diameters and the available installation space; we will check whether a modified version is sufficient or another series is the better route.
