Contactless Torque Transmission

Contactless torque transmission means the drive and driven sides share no mechanical component — the force is transmitted solely via a magnetic field.

Advantages

Because drive and driven sides do not touch, there is no mechanical wear on the power transmission. An intermediate wall (containment shell) also allows a hermetically tight separation of the two sides. Magnetic couplings additionally compensate a certain shaft misalignment (axial, radial, angular) and protect against overload through defined slip. The principle is used in pumps, agitators, vacuum and cleanroom applications.
