Beta – TEA Academy is new. The content is for learning; it has been prepared with care but has not yet been technically approved. It does not replace design based on the manufacturer’s specifications. Found an error? Write to us.

FOR EMPLOYERS AND TRAINERS

What the certificate of completion indicates—and what it does not

Beta: During the initial phase, the first five final exams are free; sales will begin later. Certificates from the demo version are not valid certificates.

What the certificate of completion attests to

Technische Antriebselemente GmbH confirms with this certificate: This person has achieved at least 70 % of the points on an online exam covering the eight subject areas of the TEA Academy. The questions are randomly selected from a question pool. The exam assesses technical understanding—not practical work on an actual system.

What the certificate explicitly is not

  • The certificate confirms basic knowledge. It does not certify the ability to design or approve systems or safety functions.
  • This is not a state-recognized degree and does not serve as a substitute for vocational training, a master craftsman’s certificate, or a technician’s degree.
  • A company-issued certificate from Technische Antriebselemente GmbH—not a professional association or government-administered exam.
  • The online exam is unsupervised. For decisions related to safety or personnel, we recommend supplementing the results with your own technical consultation (see examples below).
  • The certificate does not indicate practical experience, soft skills, or suitability for a specific position.

Here’s how the exam is structured

  • Exercises are randomly selected from a pool, with an equal number per module and at least one application exercise per module. Planned: 40 exercises in 60 minutes (90 minutes upon request). The demo presents 16 exercises in 24 minutes (36 minutes upon request).
  • Calculation exercises use different numbers for each experiment; there is no fixed worked solution to memorize.
  • Passing threshold: 70 % of the points. The certificate only indicates “passed”; there is no grading based on points.
  • Three attempts are included, with a 48-hour waiting period between attempts. A new attempt may overlap with the previous one by no more than 30 %.

What the eight modules cover

  1. Load Profile, Torque, and Inertia: Convert torque, power, and speed; analyze a load profile, including inertia.
  2. Selecting Motor and Drive: Compare servo and induction motors; assess the IE class, degree of protection, and the benefits of an inverter.
  3. Selecting Gearboxes: Calculate the transmission ratio and efficiency; select a suitable gearbox based on specific requirements.
  4. Understanding Gearing, Selecting Gears: Calculate the reference circle and center distance; select the gear type, material, and quality.
  5. Selecting Linear Guides, Calculating Service Life: Calculate static safety and L10 service life from the load ratings; select a suitable guide.
  6. Linear Drives: Ball Screws, Lead Screws, and Actuators: Calculate drive torque, buckling load, and critical speed; distinguish between different designs.
  7. Connecting and Fitting: Couplings, Magnetic Couplings, Fits, and Standard Parts: Select couplings appropriate for the task; read and classify ISO fits such as H7/k6.
  8. Lubrication, Maintenance, and Total Cost: Determine the lubricant and relubrication interval; assess the total cost of ownership (TCO).

What is listed on the certificate

Sample with placeholder data – not a valid certificate. The certificate confirms fundamental knowledge. It does not prove competence to design or approve machines or safety functions.

Sample Technical Questions for the Job Interview

  • How do you calculate torque from power and speed, and what does a duty cycle of 40 % mean?
  • When should you choose a self-locking worm gearbox instead of a planetary gearbox—and what are the limitations of this rule?
  • Which parameters are included in the L10 service life of a linear guide, and how does the preload affect it?
  • What does an H7/g6 fit mean, and what is it used for?

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a state-recognized degree?

No. It is a certificate issued by Technische Antriebselemente GmbH.

Does it replace vocational training, a master craftsman’s certificate, or a technician’s degree?

No, it supplements existing knowledge and confirms that the exam for the eight modules has been passed.

Why is the exam unsupervised?

Because it is a freely accessible online exam. The question pool, the random selection of questions, and the varying numbers in calculation exercises make it difficult to simply copy answers, but do not completely rule out the possibility. For important hiring decisions, we recommend an additional technical interview.

How certain is it that no one will take the exam on behalf of another person?

Technically, the online exam cannot rule this out. The verification only confirms that the ID belongs to a genuine, valid certificate—not who took the exam.

How long is the certificate valid?

The certificate is valid indefinitely. It refers to the curriculum version that was in effect on the date of issuance. Planned: Online verification will remain accessible for at least 5 years.

How much does it cost, and who pays for it?

The course content is freely accessible. A fee is planned for the exam and certificate.

Can the exam be retaken if it is not passed?

Yes: Three attempts are included, with a 48-hour waiting period between attempts. A new attempt may overlap with the previous one by no more than 30 %.

Can I review multiple certificates at once?

Not included in the beta version—each ID must be verified individually via the verification page. Planned: Bulk verification for human resources departments.
